Painting cannot be explained, at least, I am not able to.
As Francis Bacon said:
Painting is made only to achieve an excitement in the stomach.
And how could that be explained?
Most of the times one paints for a secret dialogue,
hidden with oneself, that nobody hears or see but that in occasions
can be sensed.
There are moments in which the accident, a not well given scrape stroke
in a different direction to one we wanted or a splash of another color,
can put a painting up side down or convert it in other one better than
the one we had conceived.
Painting contains a mystery that when it catches you it doesn't let you
go, no matter how much you try it,
always and ingenuously, thinking in discovering it you drag your life
in that zeal.

The animal world has strong seduction specimens, among them, the horse, is one of the most excellent. Present in Human history as a mean of transport, partner of happiness and vicissitudes, present in battles of the past and in current daily life, mythical, historical, mythological, literary, sport, film personage, an eternal character in life and art.
To capture in a painting or a drawing one and another expressive possibility in an equine example is an exquisite ability that the Cuban Gilberto Frómeta has always maintain with the best results. The most beautiful steeds are part of the iconography with which this splendid creator has endowed art. It is not the photographic reproduction of a superb equine what is appreciated in these works, in each of these canvases, endowed with an expression able to communicate the most varied psychic states and possessors of an imposing presence, the charmed fauna transmits a special encouragement that identifies them.
Tender, loving, elegant, heirs of the steeds belonging the most upper-class characters in legend, history and literature, all of a race that arrives through the genetic code of which their creator has endowed them, awaits us clever to run, to gallop spread in our imagination or to pasture in the sweetest dreams that are able to recreate. The painter doesn't forget in his imagery, the mounts of childhood and includes the merry-go-rounds or tío vivo, the rocking horse... those that also mark with the lukewarm nostalgia of memory.
But not only we appreciate these beautiful figurations, the world created by Frómeta enters the most energetic color and indefinite forms to present that effect of conscious hallucination that takes to objects and landscapes which only we can identify in those illuminated stains, in another occasion I said that the abstraction in Frómeta is an visceral claim transformed into capricious forms and colors, it is a chaos generated by the force of its talent and genius, the proposal of a presence that doesn't need of a story to catch the attention and to fascinate with the enjoyment in the face of wealth of so much color and forms amalgamated, and not only I reiterate it today, but rather in the way that the work of this demiurge, fable writer is developed achieves the most sublime combinations in the diversity world of the purest abstraction. There are no secrets in creation for who arranges the colors with absolute accurately.
Figurative or abstract, Frómeta is always faithful to his intention of communicating that state of grace which identifies him, and makes us admire his creations.

LORD OF COLOR AND FORM

To visit an exhibition of painting should constitute an encounter with life experiences and dreams, is in artist's creative abilities and possibilities and in the disposition of whom contemplates his work. To discern among view, the purest pleasure and the coldest technical evaluation and referential of the visited work. When a creator, paints on a canvas with an impeccable technique the possibility of emotion, we only have the desire to possess the piece, keep it zealously or feel the pleasure on showing it to those that can appreciate it.The animal world has strong seduction specimens, among them, the horse, is one of the most excellent.
